The First Battle is the sixth episode of the animated series, Spartacus.
Plot[]
Sparticus, who had been born on Mount Vesuvius, brings the makeshift army to his father’s home where everyone is fed before resuming their march. Gallow and Egizio, the young gladiators whose lives Sparticus had spared in the arena, have a great sense of respect for him and so become his lieutenants. Hot in pursuit, the Romans, after having killed Spartacus’ father, prepare to make their final attack for Sunrise.
Sparticus, however, preempts them— in the middle of the night he ambushes the Roman encampment, killing 1,800 men and confiscating their weapons. Anyone left alive is forced to run away. Sparticus is then the undisputed Rebel leader, and can thus count upon his small, but well-outfitted army. Meanwhile, new recruits arrive from the Sannio and are trained by Sparticus’ Gladiators.
