The Conquest of Mompracem (Italian: La conquista di Mompracem) is the third episode of the first season, The Tiger of Malaysia from the animated series, Sandokan.

Synopsis

Sandokan and Yanez are fleeing Labuan when they are caught in a storm and shipwrecked on Mompracem, an island off the coast of Borneo. Yanez recovers, and finds a nice chameleon in his pocket, whom he names Paco. While looking for Sandokan, he accidentally falls off a precipice, however, his fall is stopped by a skeleton hung on a tree.

After finally reuniting, they both agree that the island would seem to be deserted, however, it later proves to be the hideout of a fierce band of Malayan pirates, led by the cruel Typhoon Fletcher. They see him making his way to a tree, when they spy the same skeleton which stopped Yanez’s fall.

We learn that the skeleton had belonged to John Mortimer, a pirate Typhoon had killed for the purpose of plundering his treasure hidden somewhere on the island. Enacting a cunning plan, Sandokan and Yanez frighten off Typhoon and take possession of both his treasure and the island. They also prevail over some of Typhoon’s pirates, who then join forces with them hailing as “The Tigers of Malaysia.” Among them is Kammamuri, a boy who had joined the crew to look for his brother Tremal-Naik.
